Amazon Snorkeling Adventure

Day 1 – Arrival in Manaus
Arrive any time. We will pick you up at Manaus Airport and bring you to a comfortable hotel where you can relax and get ready for the adventure ahead.
If you are feeling adventurous, this is great opportunity to explore Manuas. Perhaps, take a stroll past Manaus’ famous opera house or dine on local delicacies at restaurant Tambaqui de Banda.

Day 2 – Embarkation and Pink Dolphin Encounter!
After breakfast and a quick meet and greet at the hotel, we will transfer you to the luxurious Amazon Lord; your home away from home for the next seven nights. Settle into your cabin, and relax while your lunch is prepared and we set sail for Acajutuba Beach.
After lunch and a short briefing, you will have the opportunity to snorkel with habituated Pink Dolphins – a special treat on our way up river!
When we say goodbye to the dolphins, it will be time to enjoy ‘Happy Hour’ on the top deck as the sun sets over the Rio Negro.
A delicious dinner buffet served in the dining room while we continue our journey upriver under the stars.

Day 3 – Novo Airão

Today and everyday starts with a sumptuous breakfast prepared by the excellent chefs aboard the Amazon Lord. Even though today’s mission is to reach Barcelos, will stop at Novo Airão for 3-4 hours of snorkeling. This will be our first opportunity to appreciate the incredible diversity of tropical fishes in the region and maybe a see a few colourful freshwater rays as well!

Later in the day, our onboard naturalist with give a presentation about the Amazonian ecosystem with an emphasis on the beautiful fishes of the Rio Negro.

After another delicious buffet style dinner, you will have plenty of time to review your underwater images or watch the riverbank slide by as we continue upriver into the night.

Days 4,5,6,7 – Snorkeling in the clearwater tributaries of Barcelos

While the liveaboard stays tied up to the shore near Barcelos, we will venture into the many clear-water tributaries that feed the Rio Negro in small flat-bottomed boats. By splitting up into small groups with only 2-3 guests per boat, you can expect undisturbed snorkeling conditions that maximize visibility and increase fish encounters.

Our small boats will rendezvous back at the Amazon Lord for lunch and then return to the submerged forest until the sun gets low.

For those that want an extra adventure after dinner, we will scour the edges of the main channel looking for apple rays, caimans, and other nocturnal animals. Apple rays are enormous ‘apple shaped’, slow moving freshwater rays that have a short spiky tail but no sting.

Day 8
On our last day in the Barcelos area, we will head out for one more snorkeling session in the small tributaries feeding the main channel. Around 2pm we will pull anchor and say good by to western Amazon for our voyage back to Manaus.
Assisted by the pull of the mighty Rio Negro, our downriver journey will seem much faster, but you will have the rest of the afternoon to dry out gear and relax on the sundeck until it is time for one last ‘happy hour’ and then a final delicious dinner.

Day 9
We expect to arrive back in Manaus around 6am. After a final breakfast we will transfer you back to Manaus Airport for fond farewells before your onward journey.
